About Matt

Hi, I’m Matt. I love food. I love creating food, playing with food, and making beautiful dishes and atmospheres for people who love to eat.

My specialty? Serving delicious food to hungry people at their events, making the affair utterly memorable. Another aspect of my love for food is the desire to help aspiring restaurateurs create successful and delicious spaces for other people who really like to eat. I am also a restaurant consultant.

Experience

I started out in the restaurant business while attending Cal Berkeley, where I worked at the famous Chez Panisse, the birthplace of California Cuisine.

I am the former owner of Café Zorro, a Sacramento hot-spot where I got to do what I love: food. I sold Café Zorro after eight successful years to focus on and expand the catering arm of my business, which is how Gourmet Garage was born.

I’m outdoorsy. Give me a mountain bike or a pair of skis, and I’m a happy man.

I love to travel. Give me a plane ticket and a suitcase, and I’ll be a happy man.

I'm a proud father to two energetic little humans, along with my amazing wife. My family completes me, I’m definitely a happy man.
